2011 ARTISTIC RESEARCH PROGRAMME

01.06.2010 |

MASKA IS PUBLISHING A CALL FOR ARTISTS IN THE FIELD OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS – 2011 ARTISTIC RESEARCH PROGRAMME
CLOSING DATE: 30 june 2010

Maska Institute invites artists working in various fields of contemporary arts who are interested in in-depth research to apply with their projects for 2011.
Artistic research has the characteristics of educational and discursive operation and is, in this sense, a juncture of all Maska’s activities: education (Seminar of Contemporary Performing Arts), publishing and production. The essence of artistic research is to delve into the problem, be it aesthetic, social or intimate. The format and method of work are not determined in advance, but are the result of the research process itself. We encourage interdisciplinary and platform cooperation. This means we would like to work with artists who create a platform for meetings, confrontations and a common reflection on the research topic. Perhaps with costume designers, filmmakers, dancers, video-artists, directors, set designers, light designers, painters, perhaps various experts of everyday life, lawyers, sociologists, philosophers – an infinite combination of cooperation and intertwinement…
At Maska, we provide an open space for projects that are not fully defined yet. An idea, a problem and the will to follow what drives you, to delve in and explore suffices. Also in order to be current, up-to-date, audacious and open. In order to have a space for experimenting, the right to make a mistake and the right to try something that is yet to turn into something sensible, productive and relevant. The format of a public presentation of research is open.
We therefore invite a broad range of artists to apply to this Call.

The application should include:
- the topic and reason of the research,
- what you expect or predict that the research will mean for your personal and professional development,
- your CV,
- the stages and activities needed to realize the research process (schedule),
- persons involved in the research (co-operators),
- what you expect from Maska.

The applicants will be notified of the committee’s decision via e-mail by 15 July 2010, at the latest.
