In the framework of the Reflection on Contemporary Art: Seminar of Contemporary Performing Arts, MASKA and Cankarjev dom invite you to the second public lecture:

Vlado Škafar: The Spectators’ Encounter with Themselves
6 December 2010 at 19.00
Cankarjev dom, M3/M4 Hall, Prešernova 10, Ljubljana

… for what had hitherto been my life having ceased of a sudden to be my whole life, being no more now than a small part of the space stretching out before me which I was burning to cover and which was composed of the lives of these girls, it offered me that prolongation, that possible multiplication of oneself which is happiness.
(Marcel Proust, Within a Budding Grove)

Vlado Škafar will philosophically and poetically reflect on his artistic creation, intertwining it with select works of world film history.

Vlado Škafar was film programmer at the Slovenian Cinematheque between 1994 and 1999. He was the initiator, founder and first director of Kino Otok – Isola Cinema film festival. He is also known as an essayist and film critic. In 1998, he made his first short film entitled The Old Bridge (1998). The film was followed by the documentary feature Peterka: Year of Decision (2003), which premiered at Cinéma du Réel in Paris. After his short film Under their S.K.I.N. (2006), he made two cinematic essays: Letter to a Child (2008) and Nighttime with Mojca. His latest film, Dad (2010), was shown at this year’s Venice Film Festival as part of the International Critics’ Week.
