at Cankarjev dom, M3/M4 Hall
Price: € 40

The lecture entitled Always, Never, Now will also be an introduction to a two-day theoretical and practical workshop. The lecture will be centred on theory, but through practical examples, it will search for and illustrate cases of a non-chronological understanding of temporality.

The goals of the workshop entitled Always, Never, Now are an analysis and a breakdown of a performance (of an artwork) as an operation in time. Considering various non-chronological approaches to temporality – from understanding time as reading to perceiving it as a time-image; from the messianic time found in Benjamin and Agamben to editing procedures put forward by Burch – the participants will get acquainted with and, through discussion, acquire the tools for understanding terminological differences and procedures, such as reconstruction, recapitulation, regression, gradual elimination, cyclic repetition, serial variations, rhythmical changes, architecture of time, etc.

The workshop is intended for young critics, theoreticians, theatre and dance creators, dramaturges and students in social sciences. The price for outside participants is €40. You can send your application to jasmina.zaloznik@maska.si.
